Clover police say a man wearing a dress and a wig robbed a title and loan shop at gunpoint.

The robbery happened Saturday at Approved Cash Advance Payday Loans in the 700 block of Bethel Street in Clover, according to a police report. The victim said she arrived for work just before 9 a.m., went inside for a moment and came back out.

The victim said she saw a man sporting a wig and wearing a blue dress or woman’s outfit who pointed a black handgun at her, the report states. The man pointed the gun at her and told her to open the safe, but the safe was on a time lock.

The robber waited for the safe to open, then forced the victim into the bathroom and told her not to move, police said. Surveillance video showed the suspect remove money from the safe before fleeing out the back door.

K-9 teams responded to help find the suspect but were unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5-foot-10, and weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a blue dress or woman’s outfit and a wig.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Clover police at 803-222-9494.
