A Lancaster County man who was one of two people accused of murder in a home invasion shooting in 2013 will spend up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter, according to court officials.

Ronald Reed Jr., 42, pleaded guilty Wednesday, clerk of court officials said, three weeks before he was scheduled to go to trial on the murder charge. Voluntary manslaughter carries two to 30 years in prison.

Sentencing will come the week of Aug. 22, prosecutors said.

Murder charges remain pending against a second defendant, Gregory Follansbee, 49.

Bryan Hatchell, 30, was gunned down in his house in the August 2013 killing. Hatchell’s family told media outlets at the time the shooting stemmed from a missing knife.
