Police on Tuesday were continuing an investigation of a double shooting that left one man dead and a second person injured.
The deceased victim was identified as 27-year-old Antonio Nichols, according to the York County Coroner’s Office. Autopsy and toxicology reports are pending.
Nichols was found shot to death outside a home on Mighty Joe Trail in York on Monday afternoon, authorities have said. A second gunshot victim was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.
Investigators have remained tight-lipped about what led up to the shooting. York Police Chief Andy Robinson has said officers en route to the shooting were given a description for a suspect vehicle and stopped the car not far from the home. The driver was detained; however, it remained unknown Tuesday if any charges were filed.

Nichols had an extensive criminal record dating back to 2005, according to the State Law Enforcement Division. It includes convictions for assault and battery, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and drug and weapon charges.
Nichols was out on bond on two attempted murder charges in Cherokee County when he was shot, according to law enforcement records. He was charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle in Gaffney in April 2014, said Capt. Chris Skinner of the Gaffney Police Department.
The two people inside the car were not injured, Skinner said. Nichols also had a pending charge for possession of a weapon during a violent crime stemming from the same incident.
