Chester schools to ask lawmakers to forgive snow days

The Chester County School District will ask lawmakers to “forgive” two days in February when schools were closed because of snow and ice.

While the district did have three weather make-up days built into its calendar, all three had passed by the time schools closed on Feb. 17 and Feb. 26.

State law requires districts to build three weather-related make-up days into their calendars. Once all those days are passed or have been used, a district must ask the Legislature to forgive the days.

If legislators do not approve forgiving the days, they must be made up at another time. Schools spokeswoman Brooke Clinton said Wednesday that, at this time, spring break would proceed as scheduled.
