Northside Elementary School of the Arts will have a new principal on July 1.

Lesley King, who will become the new principal, has served as the principal of Independence Elementary School for the past two years and served as the assistant principal of Northside from 2012 to 2015, according to the Rock Hill school district.

Jason Ramey, assistant principal at Independence, will take the assistant principal role at Northside. Ramey was named the 2015-16 teacher of the year at Castle Heights Middle School before taking an administration role at Independence.

The district has also named Delandris Jones the district’s world language coordinator. Jones will lead foreign language programs, including the French and Spanish immersion programs, and help open the district’s new language immersion school in August 2018.

The new language position was created to “more fully support the district’s language programs,” according to the Rock Hill school district.

Jones worked for five years as the director of world languages at Meadow Glen Middle School in Lexington and is fluent in French and Spanish.

Jones, a board member with the S.C. Foreign Language Teachers Association and Southern Conference of Language Teaching, is also teaching himself Chinese, according to the district.

The administrative changes will take effect on July 1.
