Winthrop Chick-fil-A 'spirit day' to support student scholarships

Winthrop University will hold a “spirit day” at Chick-fil-A on Cherry Road all day Friday to raise money for student scholarships.

Organizers say 15 percent of sales from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. will be donated to the Winthrop Fund, which helps provide financial aid for college students. Winthrop’s alumni group is hosting the event.

Customers are asked to place their purchase receipts in a box inside the restaurant to support the Winthrop Fund. A raffle for free Chick-fil-A sandwiches will also be held.
