York Tech’s open house, community festival Saturday
York Technical College annual TechFest open house and community festival is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the college’s main campus on Anderson Road in Rock Hill.
“TechFest 5.0” – named in honor of the college’s 50th anniversary – has a variety of activities such as:
▪ Live music from Terence Young & The Finesse Band (1:00 p.m.)
▪ NASCAR simulator races, in a York Tech logoed car
▪ York Tech’s first alumni homecoming, with thousands of former students invited back to campus
▪ A “family reunion” for former students, parents, employees and student-teachers at the York Tech Child Development Center, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year
▪ Free career assessments from York Tech Career Services staff, information sessions for prospective students and Drop-in counseling for families with questions about college admissions and financial aid.
▪ Interactive demonstrations from nearly all of York Tech’s academic programs, including surgical technology, automotive technology, welding, nursing, information technology and many more
▪ Storytelling, art exhibits and a drama workshop
▪ A festival zone featuring food trucks, bounce houses, traveling entertainers and kids’ games and activities
