Rock Hill principal to lead York secondary education, assistant principals named
York school district board of trustee members Tuesday approved multiple administration changes.
The roles are effective July 1.
Elissa Cox is the new director of secondary education for the district, a release states. Cox has served as principal of Saluda Trail Middle School in Rock Hill since 2016.
“As principal she developed successful strategies to increase student achievement in core areas, facilitated the continued development of curriculum maps, instructional activities and common assessments in school and district-wide Professional Learning Communities, and conducted analyses of instructional programs,” the release states.
Cox has also been a high school assistant principal, math teacher and program coordinator of math, science and advanced studies, according to the school district.
Cox holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from Clemson University and advanced degrees from Winthrop University and The Citadel, the release states.
York Comprehensive High School’s new assistant principal is Susan Nichols.
Nichols has taught math at York high school since 2006, according to the district. She has also served as the Middle College Program Coordinator.
Nichols was named York Comprehensive High School’s Teacher of the Year in 2009, the release states. She has a degree in math from Winthrop and advanced degrees from Winthrop and Columbia College.
Hannah Rescigno is the new assistant principal of Harold C. Johnson Elementary School. She served in the same role at York Middle School for two years, according to the district.
Rescigno also taught math at York Middle and was selected in 2017 as the school’s teacher of the year, the release states.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in middle level education and a master’s of education from the University of South Carolina, according to the York school district.
