Kevin Miller named Indian Land High School’s new principal

Indian Land High School has a new leader.

The Lancaster County School District announced on Wednesday that Kevin Miller will be Indian Land High School’s next principal. He will begin his tenure at the start of the 2022-23 school year.

Miller will replace David Shamble, who’s been the principal at ILHS since 2011. Shamble will wrap up his role at the end of the 2021-22 school year.

Per a release from Lancaster County Schools, Miller spent 22 years in the military and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army. He began his career in education 14 years ago.

Most recently, Miller has spent the past four years as a principal in Lancaster County Schools — one year at Kershaw Elementary (2018-19) and three at Buford Middle (2019-22).

There is a lot of excitement around the northern Lancaster County school. Indian Land is among the fastest growing municipalities in the Southeast, and Indian Land High School students moved into a new, state of the art building in the 2021-22 school year.
