Fort Mill just named its top teachers and staff members for 2023. Here’s the list

More than 40 educators and support staff members in Fort Mill now sit atop their classes.

The Fort Mill School District named school level Teacher of the Year and Support Staff of the Year winners for 2023. Nominated and selected by peers at their schools, the 44 honorees will represent those schools for the next year in communication with the district.

Five of the 20 teachers tabbed will become honor roll finalists, named in April, for the district-wide Teacher of the Year. Both the district teacher and support staff overall winners will be named this fall.

Elementary School Teacher of the Year winners are: Robin Orlick (Doby’s Bridge, art), Molly Blum (Fort Mill, 1st grade), Amy Pierson (Gold Hill, 1st grade), Alison Alejandro (Kings Town, special education), Rebecca Pollack (Orchard Park, media specialist), Mandy Pyrc (Pleasant Knoll, special education), Dana Reese (River Trail, kindergarten), Amanda Byma (Riverview, 4th grade), Kasey Segal (Springfield, 2nd grade), Dani Cancro (Sugar Creek, special education) and Kathleen Mills (Tega Cay, Reading Recovery).

Middle School winners are: Kelsey Linner (Banks Trail, special education), Jennifer Margeson (Fort Mill, 8th grade ELA), Devon Craig (Forest Creek, 7th grade social studies), Lindsay Weaver (Gold Hill, 6th grade ELA), Denise Bard (Pleasant Knoll, chorus) and Corrie Lovell (Springfield, 7th grade ELA).

High school winners are: Yvette Senesi (Catawba Ridge, special education), Cynthia Knox (Fort Mill, biology) and Neely Potts (Nation Ford, ESOL).

Support staff winners at the elementary level are: Beth Safnauer (Doby’s Bridge, receptionist), Erin Swetta (Fort Mill, PowerSchool manager), Sherrie Evans (Gold Hill, PowerSchool manager), Angel Helms (Kings Town, PowerSchool manager), Shawna Heun (Orchard Park, school psychologist), Kayla Brown (Pleasant Knoll, school psychologist), Citadel Garcia (River Trail, special services assistant), Tyresha Jackson (Riverview, special services assistant), Amanda Gilstorf (Springfield, school behavioral tech), Heather Ross (Sugar Creek, intervention assistant) and Dolly O’Hara (Tega Cay, registered behavior tech).

Middle school support staff winners are: Sharon Snearly (Banks Trail, special services assistant), Cindy Carner (Forest Creek, special services assistant), Matt LeBlanc (Fort Mill, special services assistant), Staci Hyde (Gold Hill, school nurse), Patti Davis (Pleasant Knoll, school psychologist) and Patrice Kilyanek (Springfield, ISS coordinator).

High school support staff winners are: Angela King (Catawba Ridge, special services assistant), Annette Irvin (Nation Ford, bookkeeper) and Lynn Reyes (Fort Mill, admin assistant).

District level support staff winners are: Myrtie Patterson (student nutrition administrative assistant), Cindy Ormseth (district office computer tech engineer), Shaun Walden (maintenance mechanic) and Teresa Brown (bus driver with transportation).
