One York School District employee keeps racking up awards. She’s named best in SC — again
A York school executive is the new South Carolina District Level Administrator of the Year.
Amy Hagner won the distinction from the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. Hagner is assistant superintendent for finance and operations for the York School District. The award comes after Hagner also was named Outstanding Business Officer by the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials.
Hagner has been with the district 17 years. Accomplishments in that time include a two-decade streak of receiving excellence in financial reporting scores and partnerships to help create health clinics at district sites, a substance abuse counselor position at York Comprehensive High School and a utility line worker program with area utility companies.
In a news release from the district, Superintendent Kelly Coxe said Hagner is known for conservative financial work and a team approach as the district works through population and student enrollment growth.
“She is always positive, encouraging and the first to volunteer when there is an opportunity to give back to the community,” Coxe said. “I can always count on her to provide honest, reflective and creative budget recommendations to ensure our students benefit from the quality and often cutting-edge academic and social learning experiences the community is accustomed to.”
Hagner’s recognition is one of several recent ones highlighting area education. Clover High School principal Rod Ruth was named high school principal of the year by the same SCASA group. Clover and Fort Mill districts each had one of five finalists for statewide teacher of the year.
