A new Clover High School principal starts Monday, plus two more in new district roles

A new Clover High School principal will start work Monday, as will two other district principals.

The Clover School District recently hired Donna Farris as the next leader of what to date is the district’s only high school. Farris replaces Rod Ruth who took a district-level administration job.

Joining Farris as recent principal hires are Maurice Johnson at Clover Middle School and Calub Courtwright at the high school’s ninth grade campus. All three hires start Monday.

Farris served this past year as assistant principal at York Comprehensive High School in the neighboring York School District. According to the Clover district, Farris has 25 years of educational experience that includes time as a math teacher at the York high school, instructional coach and York Middle School and math teacher at York Junior High School. Farris holds degrees from the University of South Carolina and Columbia College.

Johnson and Courtwright also have local experience in education. Johnson was Ninth Grade Campus principal before switching to Clover Middle. Johnson spent a year prior in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, after a long stay in Clover schools since 2000. Johnson taught middle school math and science, served as assistant principal and coached basketball and football in his time at Clover schools. Johnson has degrees from Winthrop and Claflin universities.

Courtwright most recently served as Clover Middle School principal. Courtwright began in the district back in 1999, teaching at Crowders Creek Elementary School. Courtwright became an assistant principal at that school in 2007 and was principal at Bethany Elementary School from 2010 to 2013. Courtwright started as principal at Clover Middle in 2013. He has degrees from Winthrop and Geneva College in Pennsylvania.
