Clinton College gets federal funding for student support grants
The U.S. Department of Education has extended a student support services grant to Clinton College in Rock Hill which will assist 90 students this year.
The grant provides academic support for students who qualify as low income, are the first generation of their family to attend college or have a documented learning disability.
The $649,835 grant is for five years. Clinton College has offered the grants for 10 years.
Incoming and current students are eligible for the grant. College officials said the grant is important in retaining students.
Clinton begins classes Aug. 12. Orientation and registration for new students started Wednesday. Registration for current students starts Aug. 10.
