Grace Stevenson got a nice surprise in class at York Preparatory Academy on Thursday.

While the 10-year-old and her fellow fifth-graders in Laura Ross’ class were listening to Jerry Pallotta via Skype, the children’s author dedicated a book to her.

“To Grace Stevenson, who loves to read!” is the dedication in Pallotta’s newest book, “Who Would Win? Rattlesnake vs. Secretary Bird.”

Grace is a fan of Pallotta and knows the author through her grandmother, Joan Stevenson, who sells educational books.

Pallotta often sends her postcards and has visited her at school.
