A Rock Hill school district campus safety leader is a finalist for a national award by Campus Safety magazine.

Kevin Wren, Rock Hill schools director of safety, security and emergency management, is one of 10 finalists for Campus Safety Director of the Year award.

The honor recognizes outstanding campus public safety, security and emergency management leaders and the policies, procedures and technologies they use.

The winner and runners-up will be announced at a July conference in Washington, D.C.

Wren has developed an emergency management planning system, rolled out an online safety training program that led to an 18 percent decrease in accidents and claims, and implemented more than $5 million in security-driven capital improvements, according to the school district.
