Elissa Cox named principal at Rock Hill’s Saluda Trail Middle
Elissa Cox, an assistant principal at South Pointe High School, has been named principal of Saluda Trail Middle School.
Cox, who has worked in various roles at South Pointe over the past 11 years, replaces Saluda Trail Principal Brenda Campbell, who is retiring next month. Cox will begin her new role on July 1.
Cox arrived at South Pointe in 2005 – the school’s first year – after six years at Rock Hill High School, where she taught math. She spent four years at Pleasant Hill High School in Hemingway before moving to Rock Hill.
At South Pointe, she worked as the mathematics department chair and program coordinator for math, science and advanced studies before she was named an assistant principal in 2011.
Since 2013, she has overseen curriculum and instruction.
She holds master’s degrees from Winthrop University and The Citadel and a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University.
