New school leaders approved in York, Chester counties
School boards in York and Chester counties have approved recommendations for new district- and school-level administrators for the 2016-17 school year.
The following appointments and promotions have been made, effective in July, for the Rock Hill, Fort Mill, York, Clover and Chester County school districts:
Rock Hill
▪ Tanya Campbell, principal at Old Pointe Elementary School since 2009, will become Rock Hill school district’s chief personnel officer. She will work alongside Beckye Partlow, who currently holds that job, until Partlow retires in January 2017.
▪ Meredith Johnson, who has taught math at Rock Hill High School since 2007, will become an assistant principal at South Pointe High School. Johnson replaces Elissa Cox, previously named new principal of Saluda Trail Middle School.
Fort Mill
▪ Tony Caricari, assistant principal at Fort Mill Middle School, has been named principal. He held a variety of jobs in the Clover school district, including principal at Bethany Elementary, before moving to the Fort Mill district.
▪ Grey Young, principal at Pleasant Knoll Elementary School, will become principal at Pleasant Knoll Middle. He previously served as assistant principal at Fort Mill’s Springfield Middle.
▪ Adam Fantone, a teacher at Doby’s Bridge Elementary School, will become assistant principal at the school.
▪ Maurice Murphy, principal of the Horry County Education Center in Conway, an alternative school, will move to the Fort Mill district as an assistant principal at Pleasant Knoll Middle.
York
▪ Kelly Coxe, principal of Harold C. Johnson Elementary School, will become director of elementary education. She previously served as director of human resources and secondary instruction in McCormick County. Coxe will take over after the departure of Patricia Allen, who will retire after 22 years in York schools and 40 years in eduction.
▪ Crystal Sandifer, assistant principal at Harold C. Johnson Elementary, will become principal. She previously worked as a Title I parent/teacher specialist in Rock Hill schools and an adjunct instructor of reading for York Technical College.
Clover
▪ Maurice Johnson, assistant principal at Clover High School, has been named principal of the school’s Ninth Grade Academy, to open in 2017. He has been an assistant principal at Clover Junior High and Clover Middle schools.
▪ Michelle Petree, assistant principal at Clover High School, will become assistant director of special education. Petree has taught middle and high school special education and oversaw the Clover High special education department.
▪ Brittany Allison will replace Petree as assistant principal at Clover High School. Allison joined Clover schools in 2011, after working in Dorchester County.
▪ Cheryl Sniker, instructional supervisor for science, will become director of teacher effectiveness, taking over for Millicent Dickey, promoted to executive director of human resources in September.
▪ Yvonne McElwee will replace Sniker as instructional supervisor for science. McElwee has taught science in Clover.
▪ Anne Witte will join the district as an instructional supervisor for English and language arts. Witte comes from York schools, where she taught middle school English.
Chester County
▪ Tammy Taylor has been named principal of Great Falls Elementary School. Taylor has previously served as district director of accountability and special projects.
▪ Suzanne Hough has been named assistant principal of Chester Middle School. Hough has worked as a teacher and teacher support specialist.
▪ Dena Dunlap has been named chief instructional officer. Dunlap has served as a principal and director of academics.
▪ Wanda Frederick has been named executive director of early childhood/elementary education. She has served as an assistant principal and principal at Lewisville Elementary School.
▪ Lee Green has been named executive director of secondary education. Green has been director of the Chester County Career Center.
▪ Anne Stone has been named principal at Lewisville Elementary School. Stone has been principal of Chester Park School of the Arts.
▪ Ruth Anne Pitt has been named principal of Chester Park School of the Arts, where she has been assistant principal.
