Mahony throws first pitch at Winthrop-sponsored Charlotte Knights game (+ video)

More than 130 Winthrop University fans and alumni attended the Charlotte Knights minor league baseball game Wednesday to cheer on school President Dan Mahony, who threw the ceremonial first pitch as part of Winthrop Alumni Night at BB&T Ballpark.

Before the game, Mahony appeared on the Knights pre-game show and Winthrop’s alumni office held a gathering at Mellow Mushroom in downtown Charlotte. Winthrop sponsored Wednesday night’s game.
