Tour group finds missing woman’s body in Alaska, officials say. Husband is charged
A tour group stumbled upon a woman’s body along an Alaska highway, officials said. Now her husband is charged with murder.
Robert Bridges reported his wife, Kimberly, missing from their Fox, Alaska, home on Oct. 25, 2021, Alaska State Troopers said.
“Troopers began a thorough search for Kimberly, however, they were unable to locate her,” the Alaska Department of Public Safety said in a report. “The nature of the report was highly suspicious.”
Before his wife was reported missing, Robert Bridges had rented different cars and was seen with a mattress folded in half and bound together in the bed of a U-Haul pickup truck, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
Kimberly Bridges’ daughter told state troopers a text message she received from her mom’s phone two days before she was reported missing seemed suspicious, according to the news outlet.
Officials had been searching for Kimberly Bridges, 65, for months when a tour group discovered a body. The group found human remains off of a highway near the Yukon River bridge on May 25, officials said.
The remains were identified as the missing woman, and her body was sent for an autopsy, troopers said. The State Medical Examiner determined her death was a homicide.
Robert Bridges, 59, was arrested and charged with murder on June 10, officials said. He is held on a $1 million bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 21, according to Alaska Native News.
