Cries for help lead rescuers to ‘curious’ climber stranded on cliff, CA officials say

A man’s cries for help led San Francisco firefighters to rescue him from a grassy ledge below the former Cliff House restaurant, California rescuers said.

The man told firefighters he scrambled down rocks to the ledge Monday, June 13, because he was “curious,” but then became stranded, SFGate reported.

A video posted by the San Francisco Fire Department on Twitter shows a firefighter scaling a graffiti-covered wall on a rope with the errant climber about 7:40 a.m.

The rescued man was not injured, firefighters told KPIX.

The iconic Cliff House restaurant on the headlands near Ocean Beach closed in 2020 after a 47-year run, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
