Man may have tried to stop car break-ins before he was shot to death, Georgia cops say
A man found shot to death near a popular tavern may have been trying to stop car break-ins, Georgia news outlets reported.
The man was in a parking lot in Atlanta when officials believe he spotted at least one person attempting to break into cars. After a confrontation, the man was shot and killed on Thursday, Oct. 27, according to WSB-TV and WANF.
The man, who wasn’t identified in news reports, died at the scene.
Atlanta police told WAGA the shooting happened at about 11 p.m. outside Manuel’s Tavern. The business is on North Highland Avenue in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood.
The Atlanta Police Department in a preliminary news release said officers were investigating a homicide at the same location.
