Tupac Shakur’s childhood home lists for $179K. Look at ‘a piece of Baltimore history’
A residence that is a part of hip-hop royalty has graced the real estate market in Baltimore, Maryland, for $179,000.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse was once the residence of Tupac Shakur, a legendary rapper who is considered one of the most influential music artists of his generation and beyond. The late rapper, who was born Lesane Parish Crooks, lived on the first floor of the residence in 1984 when he was 13, the listing on Realtor.com says.
The property sits on Greenmount Avenue, which was nicknamed “Tupac Shakur Way,” according to the Daily Mail. Even though the “California Love” artist will always be an icon in the West Coast music scene, he spent a much of his life in New York City — where he was born — before moving to Baltimore with his mother and younger sister, Baltimore Magazine reported.
The 1,798-square-foot townhome is a two-floor building with a resident currently living on the first floor, where Shakur resided, and is paying $750 a month “and wishes to stay,” the listing says.
The second floor unit has two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom, with a tenant living there as well.
There’s also an unfinished lower level with a washer and dryer.
Shakur and his family eventually moved to Marin City, California where he rose to fame with his recording debut “Same Song,” Biography reported. The rapper became a key figure in the West Coast vs. East Coast rivalry that included Biggie Smalls.
Shakur was killed in 1996 after being gunned down in Las Vegas.
