A man driving on Interstate 88 crashed into a dead bobcat suspended from an overpass, New York police said.

The man barreled into the dead animal while driving on Jan. 9 through Duanesburg, a town near Albany, he wrote in a Facebook post. The force of the impact shattered his front windshield.

The bobcat, which was bloodied and attached to a black cord, was likely roadkill “that some punk kids strung up with paracord and tossed off the overpass,” he wrote in the post.

When reached by McClatchy News, a spokesperson for the New York State Police confirmed the details of the incident.

While the vehicle was damaged, no injuries were reported, the spokesperson said.

An investigation has been opened to determine who hung the bobcat from the Schoharie Turnpike Bridge overpass.

“You think you had a bad day?” the driver wrote. “Bet you didn’t have a hit a bobcat hanging off a bridge with your car kind of bad day.”
