Famed ‘Mad Men’ creator lists his hidden California estate. See the ‘park-like haven’

TV producer and writer Matthew Weiner, the award-winning mastermind behind the hit AMC series “Mad Men,” and his ex-wife, architect Linda Brettler, have put their dramatic home on the housing market in Los Angeles.

It can be yours for $15.495 million.

Its name is the Blair Estate, and according to its website, the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom home “has maintained its status as one of the most legendary estates in Hollywood.

“Originally built in 1924 by George H. Freuhling for the renowned developer, John H. Blair, this masterful estate was crafted with the intent to showcase the best of Spanish Mediterranean architecture.”

The home is certainly eye-candy — if you can manage to catch a glimpse of it. According to a news release, the property is “completely hidden from the street” so you most likely have to schedule ahead to even steal a glance of the “one acre park-like haven.”

Features in and around the 11,137-square-foot home include:

  • Dramatic wrap-around patio

  • Primary suite terrace

  • Swimming pool

  • Grotto

  • Koi pond

  • Two kitchens

  • Game room

  • Wine room

  • Theater

  • Indoor-outdoor bar

  • Three-level guest house

”The Blair Estate is the quintessential Old Hollywood estate, with incredibly preserved 1920s Spanish architecture, a museum-quality restoration, and amenities that have been updated for contemporary living,” listing agent Daria Greenbaum with Compass said in a news release.

“Few properties in LA can boast being published in Architectural Digest nearly 100 years ago, and also be featured on the cover of coffee table books today. To me, that is the definition of timeless style, and when investing in a property of this caliber, why not choose something that will be relevant for the next hundred years?”
