Hail storm leaves Red Rocks concertgoers with broken bones and welts, video shows
Concertgoers were left with cuts and broken bones after a massive hail storm hit an iconic venue in Colorado.
Louis Tomlinson was set to perform at the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison on June 21 when severe hail caused a weather delay, according to a post on Twitter by the concert hall.
Some took to TikTok to document the intense storm with one user captioning a video, “I have welts everywhere, my poster is ruined and I drove 9 hours to be here.”
The video shows concertgoers being pelted by chunks of hail, some bigger than the size of a quarter.
Another user showed the venue’s stairs flooding as music lovers held railings, trying to escape the chaos.
Later in the video, the TikToker showed a strike of lightning hitting the sky before four golf ball-sized pieces of hail fall to the ground.
Fire personnel said seven people were sent to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a post on Twitter by West Metro Fire.
Between 80 and 90 people were treated at the amphitheater for cuts and broken bones, fire officials said.
Tomlinson took to Twitter to let his fans know he will be returning to the venue to finish what he started saying, “Devastated about the show tonight, hope everyone’s ok! I’ll be back!”
The former One Direction band member is currently on a solo tour across the U.S.
Morrison is about 20 miles southwest of Denver.
