22-year-old dad shoots 3-year-old son, kills 19-year-old girlfriend, Michigan cops say
A 22-year-old man killed his 19-year-old girlfriend during an argument and shot their 3-year-old son, Michigan police said.
The man faces multiple felony charges after Detroit police say he pulled out a gun during an argument with his girlfriend on May 30 and shot her, according to WXYZ.
Officers were called to the scene at about 6:45 a.m. and found the woman with a gunshot wound to the neck, police said in a June 5 post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
She was pronounced dead on the scene, WXYZ reported.
The dad also shot his 3-year-old son during the argument, police said. The toddler was rushed to a hospital, police said, and he has stayed there to receive treatment.
McClatchy News is not identifying the suspect to protect the identity of the minor.
The man was arrested and charged with murder, assault, child abuse, carrying a concealed weapon and three counts of felony firearm, according to police.
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 10, according to WDIV.
