Pup wouldn’t eat after his return to shelter — then an old friend saw him on TikTok
One dog in Pennsylvania is now living his best life after a TikTok video of him went viral.
Max the sweet dog was left at the SPCA after spending eight years with his humans due to “unforeseen circumstances,” the Pennsylvania SPCA said in a July 14 Facebook post.
“Max was terrified here. He was heartbroken. He wouldn’t even eat,” the caption said.
Sarah Brown, a worker at the Pennsylvania SPCA, made a video that showed how depressed Max looked after returning to the shelter. It helped find an old friend — and a new forever family.
“This job breaks my heart daily,” Brown captioned in a July 6 TikTok video. “Max will be looking for a new home shortly.”
Thankfully, this new owner wouldn’t take too long to find her way to Max.
“Max’s new owner had seen the original TikTok and emailed our adoptions team,” Brown told McClatchy News. “She had known him from his old life and we were excited to reunite him with a familiar face.”
Brown said while she didn’t see the reunion in person, she heard it was a joyful one.
“He ran right into her lap and it was very emotional.”
Max’s new owners shared some photos of his new life, and the difference between the video and photos is clear.
“He is so very happy now. He even has a TikTok page of his own - @Grandpa.Max,” Brown said.
