Stunt driver hospitalized after crash during jump through camper at fair, Iowa cops say
An Iowa stunt driver attempted to jump a vehicle through a camper to entertain the crowd at a county fair, but the stunt put them in the hospital, Iowa State Patrol said.
The driver crashed into the camper in Maquoketa during a performance at the Jackson County Fair and lost consciousness, according to a July 28 crash report.
Video from Done Right TV, posted by WQAD, shows go over a ramp and through a camper before the crash.
The 2006 Chevy Silverado continued across the track and eventually onto the highway, police said. The truck crossed the highway and crashed into a residential shed, according to the crash report.
The truck came to a stop after crashing into the shed, police said.
The driver was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. As of Monday, July 29, their condition is unknown. Authorities did not identify the driver.
Maquoketa is about an 85-mile drive northeast of Iowa City.
