Mystery grows as woman missing for 11 days found dead in burned home, Florida cops say
The case of a missing Florida woman took another mysterious turn when her body was found in a burned home, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
A cause of death has not been revealed for 42-year-old Kelli Fisher.
Her aunt reported Fisher missing July 17 from a home at 1710 Prescott Street 11 days before her body was found at 1720 Prescott, police say. The two homes are next to each other, maps show.
“Family members mentioned that she sometimes visited this house,” police said. “During the follow-up investigation of the fire, human remains were discovered inside.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Fisher was last seen July 16 driving her aunt’s vehicle, police say. The car was found July 18, abandoned in a vacant lot on 28th Avenue South, about a mile and a half south of her aunt’s home.
The driver’s side door was left ajar and “officers found three cell phones in the car and a small amount of cash on the dashboard.”
Investigators described the July 28 blaze as a kitchen fire, and the damaged home and a neighboring home are “both owned by Fisher’s aunt,” the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Family members report Fisher did not have a history of leaving home without staying in touch with family members and her boyfriend.
