A shelter in Ohio is highlighting a sweet cat who’s been overlooked for a month and shelter workers suspect it has to do with her iridescent look.

Espresso, a 2-year-old cat, has a lot of love to give, the shelter said. However, the shelter fears she’s been ignored because her eyes don’t match in shape, the Ohio SPCA and Humane Society said in a Aug. 2 Facebook post.

“She is a fairly new face on the adoption floor, but has been waiting for a month for someone to take interest with no takers. Sadly, we can suspect why,” the shelter said in the post.

“Espresso came to the shelter as an injured stray who was also nursing her babies. Her injuries healed up nicely and her babies are also ready for homes,” the post continued. “As you can see, Espresso’s right eye is much smaller than her left. We believe this was either a birth defect or an old injury.”

Espresso feels no pain from it and doesn’t let her affect her carefree mood.

“She just looks unique! Unfortunately people will see something different about an animal and tend to not give them a chance,” the shelter said.

Espresso is “quiet but very friendly,” the shelter said. She gets along with other cats and all people, and she likes to watch birds and play with toys.

For more information on Espresso and other adoptable pets, visit the Ohio SPCA website.

The shelter is in Lima, about a 90-mile drive northwest from Columbus.
