Police in Iowa arrested a woman they say attempted to poison her husband on more than one occasion by putting eye drops into his drink.

Daisy Zantjer, 39, is charged with one count of administering harmful substances, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

An attorney was not listed for Zantjer in court records.

According to court records, sometime in July 2023, Zantjer put tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride into her husband’s drinks on two separate occasions.

Ingesting tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride can cause “sleepiness, low blood pressure, and a dangerously slow heart rate,” according to Poison Control.

Zantjer was booked into the Marion County Jail on July 30, records show.
