A woman accused of fleeing an accident later died of her injuries in her home, California police reported.

A gray 2012 Hyundai SUV crashed into a tree at 7:06 a.m. June 15, San Jose police said. Onlookers saw the driver, a woman, flee the crash.

Officers went to the registered owner’s home but could not find her, police said.

On June 17, the woman’s family reported finding her dead inside her home, police said.
