A herd of elk trampled across a Colorado roadway with lots of noisy babies in tow, an adorable video shows.

A driver stopped to record and eventually rolled their window down to capture the chorus of calves squeaking, the video shows.

Sound on for this one!” Colorado Parks and Wildlife Southwest Region said on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Check out this elk herd on the move outside of Durango. Lots of calves in tow making some spectacular vocalizations.”

The video, posted Monday, Aug. 12, is mostly silent until the driver seems to realize the calves are making noise about 30 seconds into the minute-long recording. They roll down the window and stick out their phone — and the calves’ squeaky song crescendos.

“Thanks for using that zoom and giving the elk room!” the agency said.
