Sound of crying leads firefighters to stuck kitten, officials say. See the cute rescue
Firefighters rescued a cat trapped in a storm drain in Virginia around 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, after responding to a call, according to a news release.
The caller said they heard an animal crying near an intersection in Chesterfield. When firefighters and an officer from Chesterfield Animal Services arrived, they discovered a kitten “down a pipe attached to a storm drain,” officials said.
The tiny blue-eyed kitten was lured to a manhole opening and pulled 6 feet up to safety using a pole, firefighters said. Wrapped in a pink towel, the cat was then taken to Chesterfield County Animal Services for a follow-up visit with a veterinarian.
“We currently have this kitten in a foster home under medical care,” the animal clinic said in a statement. “Send positive vibes for his recovery process.”
Over 40 people expressed their support for the rescue in the comment section of both organizations’ social media posts.
“You are all truly heroes! Thank you for rescuing this precious baby,” said one woman.
