Narcan saves 9-month-old girl turning blue, Maine cops say. 28-year-old man arrested
A baby was saved with “numerous doses” of Narcan after experiencing an opioid overdose and testing positive for marijuana and cocaine, Maine officials said.
On Sept. 2, Oxford County deputies responded to a home in Mexico after getting reports of an unresponsive 9-month-old girl struggling to breath and turning blue, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office.
The baby was rushed to Rumford Hospital and treated for a drug overdose, officials said.
She was then transferred to the Maine Medical Center in Portland, officials said.
After executing a search warrant, 60 grams of cocaine were found in the home, officials said.
Deputies later arrested a 28-year-old Dixfield man who was on three sets of bail conditions, officials said.
Police didn’t specify his relationship to the baby.
He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful trafficking schedule W drug and violating conditions of release, officials said.
Oxford County is about a 70-mile drive northwest of Augusta.
