A nurse reported missing after she failed to report to work has been found dead, and her neighbor has been arrested, Oregon police said.

Friends, family and co-workers contacted police after Melissa Jubane, 32, missed work at a Portland hospital on Wednesday, Sept 4, Beaverton officers said in a Sept. 7 news release.

Efforts to contact Jubane throughout the day failed and a search of her apartment found no sign of her, officers said. Police listed her as a national missing person case.

After an extensive investigation, police arrested her neighbor, Bryce Johnathan Schubert, 27, on Friday, Sept. 6, on a charge of murder, officers said.

Jubane’s remains have been recovered, police said. No further details about the case were released as an investigation continues.

Jubane had just returned to Oregon after marrying an Oahu man in Hawaii, KHON reported. Her mother-in-law told the station her family is devastated by the news of her death.

Police ask anyone with information to call 503-526-2280.
