Man beaten with skateboard outside Kroger dies days later, Ohio cops say. Arrest made
A man died two days after he was beaten with a skateboard in a fight outside a Kroger grocery store, according to Ohio police and news reports.
It’s unclear what led to the fight, which WCMH said occurred Friday, Sept. 6, outside a Kroger in Columbus.
The suspect, 46-year-old Adrian Ashley, is accused of knocking the victim unconscious before striking him in the head with a skateboard, WSYX reported, citing police.
Ashley reportedly proceeded to kick the victim in the head before he walked away, according to WBNS.
The victim, identified as 64-year-old Timothy Davis, was discovered with “severe head injuries,” The Columbus Dispatch reported. He died at a hospital Sunday, Sept. 8, police told the publication.
Ashley was charged with murder, court records show. He is due in court Sept. 10.
Police said the fight was recorded by multiple witnesses, according to WSYX and WBNS. Anyone who took video of the incident is asked to contact police at 615-645-4730.
It’s the second fatal assault outside a Kroger in Columbus in the last year. On Dec. 18, a 53-year-old father was “brutally attacked” outside the grocery store, and he died days later, McClatchy News reported.
