35-year-old intentionally run over by driver, CA cops say. ‘Long future ahead of him’
A 44-year-old driver was arrested after being accused of intentionally running over a pedestrian, California officials said.
On Sept. 14, Hesperia station deputies responded to a road and found Ricky Kemp, 35, unresponsive on the roadway, according to a news release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Kemp was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
“Ricky was a loving father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend. His untimely death was not only tragic, but extremely unexpected,” family said on a GoFundMe page.
While investigating, officers learned 44-year-old SUV driver, John Wynn, intentionally struck Kemp with his car, deputies said.
Wynn had abandoned the car and was found inside a business, officials said.
He was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center on a murder charge, deputies said.
Authorities didn’t specify if Wynn knew Kemp.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 17.
“Although, this is something nobody is prepared for, (Kemp) had a long future ahead of him and his family did not expect to have to commemorate his life and coordinate his death so early in life,” loved ones said.

Hesperia is about an 80-mile drive northeast of Los Angeles.
