17-year-old on Most Wanted list arrested in killing of Sonic manager, TX officials say
A 17-year-old has been arrested months after the fatal shooting of a Sonic manager in Texas, officials say.
Adiah Namir Roberson, who in September was added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List, was arrested Oct. 22 in Dallas, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
She was wanted for murder following the July 7 killing of Daniel Shrewsbury, who was working his shift as a manager for a Sonic in San Antonio, city officials said. A warrant was issued for Roberson’s arrest two weeks after the shooting.
Police said a group of three tried to pay for their order with the counterfeit money, according to KSAT. When Shrewsbury noticed, the group was accused of using real money and taking cash from a tip cup before leaving.
Shrewsbury then took a picture of their vehicle’s license plate, leading to an argument and Roberson shooting the manager, police told KSAT.
Police said Shrewsbury walked back inside, where he collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Instead of just leaving, they shot my son, and he died,” Shrewsbury’s mother, Peggy Cofield, said in the GoFundMe. “My son Daniel would’ve been 34 years old on July 20, 2024, and he will never see that day because of the careless act someone decided to commit.”
In a Facebook post after her brother’s death, Jazmin Robinson said she is “so broken (and)... even more angry.”
“They took your body but they can’t have your soul, my memories of our time together will stay with me forever,” Robinson said. “I will never forget how much you were an amazing hard working brother.”
Roberson was also wanted for forgery of a government document, but officials did not offer additional details.
Joshua Joseph, a 27-year-old man who police said acted as the getaway driver in the incident, was arrested on a murder charge in July, KENS reported.
“I apologize for the actions of somebody that happened to be with me,” Joseph said after his arrest, according to KABB. “None of that should have happened the way it happened. I wouldn’t wish death on nobody.”
