A father and son died in Oklahoma after officials say they jumped into floodwaters to save a family member.

Around 8:45 p.m. Nov. 8, authorities were called to search for a father and son who witnesses said were washed away by floodwaters near Haskell, according to a Facebook post from Wagoner County Emergency Management.

“WCEM was called to bring drones and swift water teams in an attempt to rescue a father and son after they were swept away by rising waters after trying to rescue the daughter who had entered the water in attempt to clear some debris,” officials said.

The daughter became trapped in the water so the father and son went in to try and help her, according to officials.

The father and son “were immediately swept from rising waters as the daughter was able to free herself to safety,” officials said.

Rescue teams searched for the father and son into the next day but didn’t locate them. Then, the morning of Nov. 9, officials posted an update that the two had been found.

The two were identified as Lloyd Eubanks and his son, William Eubanks, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol told KOTV.

“Our prayers are with the family of the victims and the first responders who made the discoveries,” officials said.

Haskell is about a 35-mile drive southeast of Tulsa.
