Teen fleeing Target with stolen phone hits 17-year-old with car, California cops say
A 17-year-old girl who met another teen at a Target store to sell a phone ended up hospitalized in critical condition after being robbed, California deputies reported.
The two 17-year-olds, who had arranged to meet for the transaction, talked briefly before the supposed buyer took the phone and fled at about 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, a San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department news release said.
The robbery took place inside the Target store in Hesperia, deputies told KTLA.
The owner chased the other teen outside to try to recover her phone and was hit by the accused thief’s vehicle in the parking lot, deputies said.
She was flown to a hospital in critical condition, deputies told the Victorville Daily Press. An update on her condition was not available as of Nov. 27.
On Nov. 26, an investigation led to the arrest of the other 17-year-old on charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury.
Deputies ask anyone with information to call detective R. Oakleaf the Hesperia Police Department at 760-947-1500.
Hesperia is about a 35-mile drive north from San Bernardino.
