Two babies were found lying on the side of the street during a rare Texas snowstorm, authorities said.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call on Jan. 21 about a woman and two children lying on the sidewalk in northwest Houston, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The woman, identified as the mother of the 2-month-old and 1-year-old, showed signs of intoxication, the sheriff said.

The babies had “cold-related injuries” when emergency personnel arrived, Gonzalez said. No report on the condition of the mother or updated condition of the children was provided.

Authorities did not say if charges would be filed.

A rare winter snowstorm dropped between 2 and 4 inches of snow around Houston, according to the National Weather Service.

The last storm in recent history to bring this much snow to Houston happened in 1960, KHOU reported.
