Bald eagle Jackie keeps two eggs warm during California snowstorm. ‘One tough mama’

A winter storm is hitting a Southern California area where famous bald eagle parents are incubating two precious eggs.
Now, Jackie and Shadow are working tirelessly to tend to their eggs in frigid temperatures.
Snow started falling after Jackie laid her second egg Jan. 25 in her nest overlooking Big Bear Lake, Friends of Big Bear Valley said in a Facebook post.
Jackie is seen on the nonprofit’s live camera blanketed in snow on Jan. 27.

She stayed in the nest overnight until the morning, when Shadow flew in and took over egg duties.
“Beautiful Jackie! Her resilience and devotion makes my heart swell with love,” one person commented in a Facebook group dedicated to the bald eagles.
“Go Jackie!! You are one tough mama!” another person wrote.
A winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service for San Bernardino County.
It remains in effect until 4 p.m. Jan. 27 and includes heavy snow.
But this isn’t Jackie and Shadow’s first storm.
Last year, Jackie incubated three eggs for 62 hours straight during a winter storm, McClatchy News reported.
She typically doesn’t like to give Shadow a turn incubating the eggs during storms because she has a bigger brood patch to keep the eggs warm, the nonprofit’s executive director Sandy Steers said in a Facebook post last February.
Viewers also shouldn’t worry about the eagles getting cold.
Jackie has over 7,000 waterproof feathers on her body that help keep her dry and downy feathers that keep her warm, Steers previously said.
