Shelter dog still ‘smiling’ despite months between shelters. Pup ‘would love a break’
The flooding of North Carolina after Hurricane Helene forced shelter workers to relocate a 2-year-old dog to a rescue in Missouri.
Yet, the pup is still “smiling,” according to a Feb. 1 Instagram post by the Humane Society of Missouri.
March, a Plott hound mix who “loves to go on adventures” and is known to be smart and athletic, was removed from the Madison County Animal Shelter during flooding from Hurricane Helene, the shelter told McClatchy News.
He’s been at the St. Louis shelter since October and “would love a break,” shelter employees said.
In September, Hurricane Helene extended from Florida to Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina with high winds and flooding that killed 230 people, making it “the deadliest hurricane to strike the U.S.” since 2017, according to Britannica.
As for March, the “handsome boy” is ready to be fostered while he waits to find his home, officials said.
Commenters were in agreement that March made a “good impression,” with one person saying, “Those teethies.”
“Cute and adorable,” another said.
“How completely adorable!!!” another person wrote.
