‘I’m going to kill you all.’ Principal threatens colleagues in a meeting, TX school says
A Texas school principal has been fired after another employee accused the man of threatening violence during a meeting, the school district said.
“If anybody kills my son’s college record, I’m going to kill you all,” Marshall Lee Myers, a principal in the Natalia Independent School District, said during a Sept. 26 meeting, according to a Feb. 10 news release from the district.
The colleague his comment was aimed at became worried the principal would carry out the threat of violence, the school district said. Another district employee witnessed the violent threat, the district said.
Myers was placed on paid administrative leave with pay the same day while the district investigated the incident, officials said. He had been placed on paid administrative leave for a separate incident in 2023, the district said.
McClatchy News reached out to police in Natalia on Feb. 11 about the accused threats but did not immediately receive a response.
By Oct. 10, the district’s superintendent recommended to the board of trustees that Myers be fired.
A termination hearing was held Jan. 8 to 10, according to the district. An examiner appointed by the Texas Commissioner of Education found that the threat was credible on Jan. 31, officials said in the news release.
The district’s board of trustees then voted unanimously to fire Myers.
Natalia is about a 30-mile drive southwest from San Antonio.
