‘I just shot my dad,’ 24-year-old tells 911, Tennessee cops say. Now, he’s charged
A 24-year-old is accused of shooting and killing his father during an argument at a Tennessee apartment, authorities said.
Cedric Blue Jr. is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the Jan. 13 death of his father, Cedric Blue Sr., the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said in a Feb. 11 news release.
Officers responded to the shooting at about 9 p.m. at an apartment in Memphis after a man called 911 and told dispatchers, “I just shot my dad,” according to a Memphis Police Department affidavit.
At the apartment, police found Blue Sr. lying inside a doorway with multiple gunshot wounds, the affidavit said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Blue Sr.’s fiancé told officers Blue Jr. was angry because his dad told him to leave, according to the affidavit.
“You gonna keep playing with me,” Blue Jr. said before shooting his father, the fiancé told police.
According to two other witnesses, Blue Jr. hid two guns behind a bush in front of the building before officers arrived, the affidavit said.
He was arrested and bond was set at $1 million, authorities said.
