Intruder breaks into home and gets nabbed while eating a sandwich, Vermont cops say
A home intruder was found by Vermont deputies in an unlikely place — in the kitchen, eating a sandwich, authorities said.
St. Johnsbury Barracks troopers and Essex County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a call reporting a man breaking windows to enter a home in Waterford, the Vermont State Police said in a Feb. 12 news release.
When authorities arrived, the man had made himself a sandwich and was eating it in the kitchen.
The 33-year-old broke into the home by throwing a milk jug through a window in the front door, authorities said.
Authorities learned the man was ordered by a court not to be at the residence and not to do anything violent, according to the release.
The man was also not complying with the Sex Offenders Registry, police said.
He was arrested and charged with burglary, three counts of violation of conditions of release, petit larceny, unlawful mischief and sex offender’s responsibility to report, police said.
Waterford is about a 165-mile drive northwest from Boston.
