A man is accused of attacking his parents, ages 74 and 73, during an argument over an internet outage at a Missouri home, authorities say.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said multiple people called 911 on Sunday, Feb. 23, reporting the “domestic disturbance.”

When officers arrived, the parents said their 41-year-old son had assaulted them “after a verbal altercation over the internet being down inside the residence,” police said.

The son, identified as Maurice Fulton, punched his 74-year-old father, then used a power cord in his attempt to strangle him, according to the court documents.

As his 73-year-old mother tried to intervene, Fulton hit her and threw her to the ground, investigators said.

Fulton was taken into custody at the home, police said. He was charged with two counts of third-degree domestic assault.

He is due in court for his initial appearance on Monday, Feb. 24.
