Nursing home assistant sexually assaulted patient multiple times, California cops say
A nursing assistant accused of sexually assaulting a patient at a nursing home multiple times has been arrested, California police say.
Larry Stanfill, 20, of Tujunga, was hired as a certified nursing assistant at Glendale Post Acute Center in November, the Glendale Police Department said in a March 5 news release.
During his time at the nursing home, he’s accused of sexually assaulting the same patient at least twice, police said.
Stanfill was arrested Feb. 21, jail records show.
In an emailed statement to McClatchy News, a Glendale Post Acute Center spokesperson said the facility immediately fired Stanfill, adding that they are “deeply disturbed” by the incident.
“Ensuring the care, safety and wellbeing of our patients is our highest priority,” the spokesperson said. “We conducted a background check and reference check of Mr. Stanfill prior to his employment on November 25, 2024, and found no concerning or compromising information.”
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed multiple criminal charges against him “related to sexually abusing a person who is seriously disabled or medically incapacitated and institutionalized for medical treatment,” police said.
In a March 6 email to McClatchy News, a district attorney spokesperson said Stanfill is facing multiple felony charges, including “sexual battery on institutionalized victim.”
Stanfill posted bail and was released from jail custody five days after his arrest, jail records show.
He is scheduled to appear in court March 11, a district attorney spokesperson said.
Stanfill previously worked at other convalescent facilities starting in August 2021 across Los Angeles County, including in Glendale, Pasadena and El Monte, according to police.
Anyone with additional information about Stanfill is asked to contact police at 818-548-3106.
Glendale is about a 10-mile drive north from Los Angeles.
