Roommates argue over boundaries and it escalates to deadly gunfire, TN cops say
An all-too-common dispute between roommates turned deadly when a man suspected his privacy had been violated in a Nashville home, according to police in Tennessee.
Just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, Davis Owolo Jr. pulled a gun and started shooting at Johnia Ishan Wilson in their shared home on Birchmill Point South, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said in a March 6 news release.
It happened during an argument over whether 33-year-old Wilson had tried getting into Owolo’s room without permission, police said.
“Owolo was reportedly upset that Wilson may have attempted to enter his room when he wasn’t home, which Wilson denied,” police said.
“Witnesses present attempted to deescalate the situation before shots were fired. Wilson was located at the top of the staircase with fatal gunshot wounds.”
Owolo, 24, fled with his girlfriend, but surrendered at the city’s Criminal Warrants Division the next morning, police said.
He is charged with felony homicide, and is being held without bond, records show.
